Fire Chief Raymond Ledoux

Hello, I am Raymond Ledoux and I have the privilege of being the Fire Chief of the Church Point Volunteer Fire Department. We area 100% volunteer membership that is truly dedicated to the fire service and committed to the public that we serve and protect. Due to the dedication of our leadership team and personnel, we were able to achieve a fire rating of 5 in 2011. By doing this we were able to get the people of our community a lower insurance premium. We are up for reevaluation in 2016 and our goal is to keep and hopefully better our rating. If you have the drive to help the community please come and join us.

Property Insurance Association of Louisiana

A private association approved by La. Legislation. They are knowledgeable of the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule. They evaluate the capabilities of the community to respond to and extinguish structural fires.
PIAL  generally grades fire departments every 5 years.

Fire Rating

The Church Point Volunteer Fire Department is graded every five years by Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL). We are graded on a scale of 1 to 10. One being the best and ten the worst.
After the forming of the Acadia Parish Fire Protection District #10, which provided much needed funding and the guidance, and the aggressive leadership of our current CPVFD administration, we have improved our rating from a rating of 7 outside the city and 6 inside, then a rating of 6 both inside and outside the city limits to the current rating 5 both inside and outside the city limits. We will be graded again in the year 2016. .

50 percent of this grade is generated directly by your fire department based on: Available equipment (supplied by the Fire District and the Fire Department), response times and coverage, firefighting ability, water hauling (outside city limits), documentation, training, certifications, etc.
40 percent of this grade is generated directly by the water supply. Since our fire district includes a municipality, this water supply grade is largely determined by the municipality. This includes: infrastructure, (which includes hydrants, water line size and flow rates), sustainability of supply, emergency supply and pressure systems, etc.
10 percent of this grade is directly generated by communications which is largely based on our Acadia Parish 911 system. This includes, qualification and certification of dispatchers, accessibility, dispatch times, backups, equipment, etc.

It is the goal of the CPVFD to continue to strive to improve the parts of these ratings that we can effect.
